News  United Way Supporters Enjoy Success

About 250 United Way of Washington County supporters gathered to kick back and enjoy the successes their financial contributions have bestowed on the community at the 2004 Pillars Party, “Gardens & Galleries” at the Gregg Ogden’s Fayetteville home.

Ogden was the first pillar of the year to make his pledge.

Guest mingled along with directors of United Way member agencies such as Life Styles, Peace At Home Family Shelter and the Crisis Center, Jim Greeson, a professor of composition and music at the University of Arkansas, played guitar.

Linda Brown, United Way of Washington County president, said Gresson generously performs with no fee and has done so for the United Way pillar parties for about four years.

Pete Sonetz, executive director of Ozark Food Bank, said being affiliated with United Way is a great way to become connected to the community.

“United Way has a great reputation in the community. They allow us the opportunity to do our jobs and feed the needy in Northwest Arkansas.”

Barbara Lindsey, owner of Creative Kitchens, Inc., set out a beautiful spread of hors d’oeuvres with her trademark dip sculpture that allowed partygoers to select a vegatable and press it into a vase decorated with the dip.

Patricia Clinton, Pillars Committee chairwoman, said the reason she’s involved with United Way is that is gives to so many different organizations.

The supporters, called pillars, donate on four levels ranging from platinum to bronze. In 2003, there were 456 pillars. So far, 116 pillars have pledged donations.
